A great war looms, make sure your game box isn't the battleground with The Broken Token's organizer for Scythe by Stonemaier Games. This modern marvel of engineering features 13 removable and modular trays that will organize and streamline game-play. This includes 2 identical resource trays, one for each end of the game table; an easy to use bank tray; 7 individual trays for each faction, including those from the Invaders from Afar expansion; a card tray, which supports sleeved cards; and a player and faction mat tray, with mini token tray. This organizer is suited for both the Kickstarter Collector's editions as well as the retail version of the game.
Note: Storing both the base game board and game board extension lifts the box's lid by 6mm when closed.
This product is a kit that requires assembly. We recommend the use of wood glue (sold separately)

Quick and Easy Game Setup
by Chance Remmel
Fantastic insert that makes setup and take-down of the game much, much faster. Broken Token has it down with their quality too. I would 100% recommend.
Look, I'm like a lot of folks that think spending 50 bucks on a few pieces of wood sounds outrageous. And honestly, for most games the time investment and price of product wouldn't justify itself. Scythe, however, is a game that takes a considerable amount of time to setup and, almost as importantly, is just a game begging to be looked at. I spent a lot more time than I would have guessed this project would take me because I wanted the stain/sand/everything to be perfect. And at the end of the entire process, I stepped back and looked. I can't believe it only cost me 50 dollars to make that game look even better and, more-so, to give me a real since of pride every time I open the box!
RESPONSE: I love this :D Don't forget to share pictures of your awesome custom work and tag us on social media, we always love seeing what our customers come up with!

I've been a big fan of The Broken Token's inserts for a while, and have purchased several (Among the Stars, Roll for the Galaxy, Dead of Winter, Codenames). This insert is more than just an organizational and storage help. I love the individual player trays, the dual resource trays, the easy to use coin tray - everything makes the game faster to set up. Fantastic work and well worth the price!
RESPONSE: Wow thanks for the great review Jacob. I have to say it's one of my favourites too! The team here is amazing. Aminda -CS Meeple
Perfect for Scythe
by micah cantrell
Very well made. Fit together easily. Had a broken tab on one of the acrylic box tops, but they replaced it quickly without question. Great service. This is my fourth organizer from them, and they are always great.
by Silver Fang
I have the kickstarter version of Scythe with all the fancy bits and extra cards as well as the expansion. I was able to fit all the components into this product with no problems. I store the expansion board separately so that the box closes completely but it is no big deal. if stored with the box there is only the slightest bit of lid overhang. I enjoy the ease with which i was able to build this. I have no carpentry skills but was able to do this project with no problems. I like how each player has a container for their own bits. Five stars, easy!
An Excellent Insert
I own inserts for several games now, and there are a few things I always look for. Is it easy to assemble? Can I store the box vertically (not all inserts allow for this)? Does the insert speed up set up and clean up times? This Scythe insert checks every box. Also, I love that every faction gets it's own box - I've seen other inserts for this game that put all of the factions in a single box, which makes it harder to distribute if you play with less than max players. Finally, The Broken Token's customer service is excellent. All of these things make this a 5 star for me.
Like a glove
I was amazed at how well everything fit in the box. I was having trouble squeezing everything in without any organizer, but this one does everything beautifully. The only downside is that the board extension makes the lid raised a bit, but that's pretty minor considering everything crammed in the box.
A must have for Scythe
by Adam S.
I love this organizer. I received Scythe as a gift for Christmas and this was an immediate purchase a few days later. It fit together very well. There was a few pieces that I needed to gently clamp so that the glue could hold them tight. I love that the individual sheets are numbered, very helpful while assembling. I almost felt like I was putting together a wooden Lego kit for grownups! Will absolutely be investing in a few other organizers for games that I have multiple expansions for.
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great feedback.. this just made my day!!!
Another excellent organizer
by Steve Girard
It's my 8th or 9th organizer, and I'm always amazed at the ingeniosity of it! Great concept, near-perfect fit (the faction boxes are really tough to assemble, you need to force the sides in, but not a big problem and it makes for a more stable component. Makes setup, gameplay and storage much easier and faster. Overall a 9.9
:D thanks steve!!! Aminda - CS Meeple
Fantastic organizer speeds setup
by Mike Wagner
Organizer is fantastic, I have the expansion content and everything fits well. Handing out the faction trays for setting up really speeds everything up, I had the game components stored in the baggies and it was a trial to set up and put away.
Took some time to put together, used white glue on most joints for strength, it was simple to put together as there was a lot of repetition.
Overall a great addition to a game we play a lot of!
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great review. This is why we do what we do!!
This organizer assembles easily. Everything fits exactly where it needs to go, and easily fits inside the box in a logical and easily remembered fashion. The resource trays are very useful to give easy access to everyone at the table, the money tray makes it easy to hand out and store cash, and the card holder easily holds sleeved cards in all slots. I especially like the player mat tray, as all 14 parts fit snugly inside, yet are still easy to remove.
The customer service:
My initial shipment was missing one sheet. An understandable error seeing as I ordered it during the busiest time of year. I fired off an email late that night, a Wednesday, received a prompt response Thursday morning, and had the replacement sheet by Saturday. This is the sixth organizer I have ordered, and all have been very prompt delivery and of the highest quality. I cannot recommend this organizer or this company enough.
RESPONSE: Why thank you!!! We really appreciate the feedback.
Easy setup, easy clean up. Holds everything neatly and completely inside the box. All the bits were in their correct locations after storage and transportation vertically.
Instructions are easy to follow, even with all the pieces removed from their sheets. I do recommend gluing the trays together. The tolerances are good and tight, but they do occasionally come apart with the odd bump.
Great organizer, exactly what I've come to expect from The Broken Token.
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great review. *note* Broken Token does NOT recommend removing all the pieces :D
Individual Faction Trays are worth the raised lid.
This is my third organizer from The Broken Token. As usual, the instructions are easy to follow, but if you get stuck, there's a YouTube video url. Some dabs of wood glue are needed on loose joints. Building everything took several hours, but it's a fun project.
They warn you in the description that if you have the board extension, your lid will be raised a bit. This is true, but in my opinion it's a fair trade for having individual faction trays. Other company's systems might make your box lid fit, but you'll have more of a chore setting up and tearing down the game, and isn't that what you bought this for?
Highly recommended insert, and I'll be buying from them again once my wife green lights my next big board game purchase.
Could have been 5 stars
by Brian Horne
This organizer is amazing. The instructions were easy to follow and it was relatively simple to build. There are a couple of components that you need some patience to line up and get correct. This organizer cuts set up time for the game by 75% due to the nature of how components are stored. The reason I did not give it a 5-star rating is that during our second playthrough a plastic tab on the resource bin snapped and I had to request a replacement. Customer service was superb and I have a replacement piece on the way. This was my first purchase from Broken Token and I would definitely buy from them again
RESPONSE: Hey Brian, Aminda here, thanks for the great shout out. You'll be happy to know that thanks to experiences like yours we are redesigning those acrylic lids :D so if you ever have any other problems you know where to find me!
This was my first organizer from Broken Token and I'm very pleased with it.
The resource bins were the only section that was a bit fiddly to assemble. I ended up using glue to assemble just about everything to be on the safe side. Some of my parts were slightly warped, so I used rubber bands to help hold the pieces together till the glue dried.
If you plan on ordering extra coins or realistic reasouces, the coin bin will hold a double set of metal coins, at least the ones from the core set. I can't speak to the upcoming 50 and 2 value coins. The compartments in the resource bin will hold about 15 oil, metal, and wood, but only about 12-13 grain tokens and have the lid still close. So both bins will hold about 1 and half sets total.
The faction bins are great and there is plenty of room for overflow if you've got after market stuff to add to the factions. I did have to lay the Russian mechs down and put one in the compartment with the hero so the combat dial would lay flat.
Overall it was a great first experience with the company!
RESPONSE: Glad to hear it! This is one of my favourites the guys have designed. We appreciate the details of what you were able to hold in the trays! Game On my Friend - Aminda CS Meeple
Everything is organized and ready to play. I was surprised to see how everything fits in a box. Just be careful with the plastic tray, the side tab was broken, one of my friends accidentally broke the side tab. Otherwise, I would still recommend this product to anyone who owns Scythe. I am not sure if the plastic slide can be replaced.
RESPONSE: The lid can absolutely be replaced, just contact Aminda at firstname.lastname@example.org
A Box of Frusteration albeit, a nice finished product
the Scythe organizer is billed as a top shelf organizer much like the game it's associated with. I was very excited to receive a collector's edition of the game, and even more excited to purchase this organizer to keep all the bits and pieces together in a nice compact space efficient configuration. I will say that the organizer does that. It makes set up and tear down very fast, maybe 5 minutes for us. Upon receiving the item you note that it comes in a rather large box. Much different than the plastic bags they usually send the products in, and rightfully so. there are a TON, of pieces involved to this organizer...which leads to the only flaws I can find in this product, one being a MAJOR flaw. So many bits and pieces, yet NONE and I mean literally NONE of the pieces are labeled with the associated alphanumeric code from the assembly instructions. (ie J-6 connects to I-9) this leads you the assembler into the long dark tunnel of product identification. and believe me, its long and dark tunnel rife with frustration. One can't even begin to fathom the frustration you would encounter with the "firefly big damn crate" organizer that's easily 10 times the work in assembly and parts. A helpful identification of each part etched into each piece would have been super helpful or at least an identification of parts x-x etched on the trees of the wooden part trees would have saved me hours of part identification and backtracking, crossing my fingers that the glue hadn't dried bonding the mismatched pieces together effectively wasting the 60.00 I dumped into this organizer. The money tray is also a large frustration breeder and you will spend hours setting it up to add another piece that you have to bang into place with your rubber mallet (Yes you will need one) due to the joints being a little off creating a super tight fit, only to have the whole structural integrity of all the work previously done fall apart on you making you start back at square one. (this happens multiple times).
However, if you can brave the storm of frustrations and poor design choices from a lack of proper identification for the mass amounts of parts involved in the assembly of this organizer you will have once complete, a pretty nice product.
my score for the final product
8/10 for the finished product (it doesn't fit completely with the expansion board causing the lid of the box to sit high)
2/10 assembly instructions. some of the most vague I have experienced in model and assembly of products.
7/10 for design. The money tray could have been a little better relieving assembly confusion and frustration.
overall..I'd say the product should get 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Response: Thank you for the feedback and we apologize for the assembly issues you experienced. It wasn't specified in your review but it sounds like perhaps all the pieces were removed from the sheets before assembly was started, and this can definitely complicate assembly. We recommend leaving all of the parts in the sheets until you need them. The sheets are identified at the top of the instructions with letters and numbers. The number-portion of the part number corresponds with the sheet, so all parts that begin with a 3 appear on sheet labeled 3/X. If there's any other assistance we can provide, please don't hesitate to contact our support department.
Game hits the table much more often
Excellent solution for storage and set-up
Daunting, yet beautiful
by CHRISTOPHER SEGUIN
The Scythe product is now my ninth insert that I have acquired, and without a doubt, it was the most daunting of all of the inserts. There are nine total sheets, and there is quite a bit of work to be done to finish everything. However, this is to be expected for a game of this magnitude, and therefore, it is worth the time and effort expended to get it right. Expect to spend about 1 1/2 to 2 hours on the entire assembly and return of the games pieces to the box.
There are seven different player trays to account for the expansion factions. Those are the only parts that required any sort of glue - otherwise, everything was a tight fit. The pair of resource trays to split the goods into two groups for each side of the table was a nice addition to the overall insert. The acrylic "lids" for these resource trays is also a nice addition, but mandatory since these two trays are placed into the box vertically. You may want to consider adding a bit of glue to the sides and end pieces of this tray due to the shape of the acrylic lid and the small, "locking" tabs. And remember to slide the acrylic lids, rather than placing them directly on top of the tray.
Please also note, in case you haven't read the product description, that if you have the "Extended Board" that is available as an add-on to the game itself, then the box lid will sit up approximately 6-7 mm above the base. Really, though, this is not that big of a deal, and if you don't have the Extended Board, then the box lid will fit flush.
This insert is heavy, as there is quite a bit of wood included in the insert (I did mention 9 sheets). I suggest that once you have finished the insert and packed everything back into the box, do not place it on top of your copy of For Sale, Tichu, or other such small games unless you would like you game to be crushed in glorious fashion!
RESPONSE: This is an epic review!! Thanks for thorough and precise feedback and headsup...if we were amazon I'm sure this would get all the thumbs up for being helpful! :D
This is an awesome insert for Scythe. Perfectly fits the base game and expansion. I was able to put it together in about 2 hours while also having a movie on in the background. Everything went together perfectly, no need to make any modifications at all, simply perfect cuts all around. I was partly hesitant on purchasing one of these at first more because I was afraid I'd like it too much...haha. Now I'm eyeing the Blood Rage insert!
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great review!! And I hate to say it, but you will seriously love the blood rage insert as well :D
Solid Scythe Organization
by Kenneth Leonhardt
First, there a a bunch of nice, removable trays and such to hold all of the cards, minis, bits, coins, and boards of this game. I have the Collector's Edition from Kickstarter and this organizer had more than enough room for everything that came with that, but also has extra room for an expansion. Note that a small amount of glue (I used PVA) on the connections was needed to secure the trays, but the instructions even mention that. I even like the use of the clear acrylic for enclosing the resource tokens. Now my parts have a place to be and each player has a compact tray of all of their respective pieces.
Excellent organizer, with one minor problem
by Vince Leamons
This organizer really adds a lot of class to Scythe, and for my money is much better than other products which don't support the same separation of player tokens. I really like the seven separate player boxes.
I have one minor and one nit-picky problem, which combined prevent me from giving it a full five stars (I'd like to give it 4.5 stars, but can't). The minor problem is that I have a collector's edition of Scythe, and that means the extension board is present. As others have noted, the game box doesn't close flat with that board in the box, though this is a really minor problem.
The nit-picky problem is that some of the mechs are just a couple of millimeters too tall for their faction boxes. I had to fiddle around with them a bit to get them to fit - if the sides of the player boxes could have been maybe 2-3mm taller, there wouldn't be a problem.
Overall, though, an excellent value.
Response: Darn physics! As you can imagine, if we increased the height of the player trays even more, there would be even more lid lift. We always try to balance the options presented and sometimes the give and take isn't perfect. As you can well imagine every choice makes some people happy and others less so! So we value everone's input and will always try to take your feedback into consideration! Game on My Friend
Complex and Awesome
by Bryan Bateman
This is my 5th Broken Token insert and the most complex one yet... It is also awesomesauce and my favorite build to date. Having room for the expansions is great - I hadn't realized there were new coins being minted for the game! The fit went from snug to loose and I did make a point to use wood glue on all the trays. As stated elsewhere the lid of your box will not fit flush if you have the extended board. My favorite part is the plastic lids for the resource trays so they can be stored vertically
RESPONSE: Any customer that uses awesomesauce in the review gets a high five :D I think you will find it's awesome level only goes up when you put it into action! Thanks for the great review.
Nice But Production Issues
The insert is nice, but there were production issues.
- I ordered the insert and it said it was in stock, but after a week or so I was notified that it was out of stock and would have to wait for the next batch. In the end it didn't take too long, but it was a little surprising.
- One piece in particular can be a little tricky to glue all the pieces and fit them together, but assembly wasn't too bad overall.
- Many of the compartment markings (icons) are very faded and illegible, especially in the player boxes.
- A couple of the pieces weren't properly cut out, so I had to force them with a razor blade which caused a lot of splintering of the wood. The integrity of the insert is fine, but some of the compartments aren't too pretty now. There were just a couple pieces where the laser didn't get through the wood at all.
- Box lid doesn't sit all the way down. Not a big deal, but would have been nice to know this beforehand.
Not a bad insert, but I expected more for the premium price.
RESPONSE: I am so sorry you didn't have a great experience. First I would definitely like to apologize for the shipping time, admittedly we weren't as prepared for the popularity of the product and it took us a few weeks to get on top of it, we learned a lot from that nightmare and believe we have the bugs worked out for future possibly big hitters like this game. Appreciate your patience and hope you understand it's not typically how that part of the process goes. ASSEMBLY: Unfortunately , occasionally to get the best possible organizer there are smaller more fiddly components, I'm glad it didn't cause you too much grief. As for the parts and the engraving - we stand behind our products 100% if there is any piece not up to standard please let us know by emailing me (Aminda) at our customer service email "email@example.com" and I will happily work with you to solve any issues.
Good Use of Space & Great Construction
by Dan Glading
This is my 4th insert from BT, and I've been happy with all of them. They are very rigorous in their design of the system to use the space in the game box well. The pieces all fit together reasonably well (there are always a few tight fits, but there's only so much you can do with wood), and the results are sturdy once glued together. My only suggestion for improvement would be some additional imagery of how the game pieces fit into the assembled storage boxes. For someone looking at this the first time, I had to struggle a bit to figure out where everything goes. Other than that very minor caveat, I am completely satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it.
RESPONSE: Hey Dan thanks for the feedback! We definitely are working on making placement easier, but without increasing cost (every bit of cut adds to the cost) We will continue to work on ways to improve that area, one way we have discussed is adding placement to the assembly video. Thanks again for your awesome review. Sometimes people find our website pictures helpful as well.
