  1. Great Product & Customer Service

Posted by Mike K. on 31st Jan 2018

The player boards are close to a necessity with TM. Due to the near zero friction between the cubes and original player mats the slightest nudge by any player will have everyone spending the next 5 minutes convincing themselves what their respective production levels were. The inset nature of the player boards with this organiser eliminate this nuisance from ever occurring. The laser etched production values and icons are simple yet elegant. The boards also include 10, 20 & 30 slots for all production elements; which are really handy if you ever get a run on production increases for any of them. They stack perfectly together and are designed to hold your cubes so game set up time is sped up.

The cube trays with built in storage for the city/greenery tiles are nice. As there are 2 of them they can be placed on the table so that all players have easy access to at least one supply. The wells for the bronze, silver and gold cubes are deep. Due the small nature of the bronze cubes they can be difficult to grab especially when the supply runs low. However this is a minor quibble and does not take away from the overall production value.

The two tiered speciality hex tray is great. It eliminates the search for the right one and keeps them all readily at hand. The fit is a little snug but I'd rather have that then have them falling out on their own.

The acrylic tokens are beautifully crafted and add flair over the stock white cubes for tracking Oxygen and Temperature levels. Likewise the retro style rocket first player token is a fun addition. The stock 1st player disk from the game even tuck neatly on the side of the storage box for the rocket token. We still use the 1st player disk to demarcate the discard pile from the draw pile.

The card holder easily holds all the cards from the base game; even sleeved. There is plenty of room so the Venus expansion would likely fit if the cards were not sleeved. As I do not have this expansion I cannot say if they would fit if they were sleeved though. The tray includes two dividers and has a great retro rocket motif on the sides.

The whole assembly process took approximately 1.5 hours and was simple and oddly enjoyable. The wood used has a nice tangible feel and even some nice visible wood grains on the larger pieces.

Care must be taken when assembling the card holder sides as the rocket motif cutout reduces rigidity when snapping pieces together. I only say this because in my ham handed efforts during assembly I broke one side. However a quick email via the website resolved this issue. I was pleasantly surprised that they would gladly replace and ship for free the piece that I had broken due to my own bumbling during assembly. The customer service before and after purchase was fantastic and is what truly fosters customer loyalty and satisfaction. I have and will continue to purchase other organisers from Broken Token

  2. The trays make it, but the rest isn't worth it IMO

Posted by John L on 24th Jan 2018

I want to start by saying that the trays are almost a necessity for playing this game. They are truly incredible, and I wish they were sold as stand-alone. If it weren't for the trays, I would give this product one star.

That being said, I actually don't think the rest of the pieces are worth it. The card holder is meant to be stood up to conserve table space, but it's so top-heavy that you have to use two hands to take cards out. The specialty tile holder has the same problem: if you stand it up on end, it's *going* to fall over; if it's meant to be laid flat, it's really difficult to get the tiles out, so you're better off just picking up the whole thing just to get out one tile. The cube (money) holders are nice, but their walls are so high that it takes forever to get cubes out, so I just set small piles of each to the side of my tray anyway; my wife can do it, but her fingers are tiny and nimble, not like my sausages. Everything fits in the box perfectly (which is honestly incredible), but if you plan on getting the expansion board or the Venus expansion, they won't fit in the box with this set. (The Venus cards will fit if you don't sleeve any cards, but you should definitely sleeve your cards! Haha.) And this one is really picky, but the track counters (the O2 tank, thermometer, and generation) don't fit standing up in their little box! If they'd just made their plastic bases maybe 1 mm narrower, they'd all fit! But as-is, you have to put one of them in upside-down to get them all in.

Overall, I'm happy I bought it for the trays, but again, I really wish they sold the trays as stand-alone products.

  3. Great organiser

Great organiser, fits snugly into the box and holds all the components well. I quite enjoyed assembly too which was a bonus :)

  4. great product, could be tweeked for my preference

Posted by Christopher on 16th Jan 2018

This product is excellent for the base game and the Venus Next expansion, holds everything in place with dragon shield sleeves on the cards. To get Venus Next in, I place 2 players color cubes in one tray and the Venus Next board and manual on the empty player tray. now to get the box to close flush you cannot have the base board and the Hellas board in the box without it raising the lid some. My only gripe about the organizer is yes the card shoe design on the sides looks nice, it gets in my way as i play with Base+CE+VN cards sleeved and use the shoe to help shuffle all 250+ cards and they always catch on the design, but still easier than shuffling with out using the shoe.

  5. Awesome player boards

Posted by Jim Martin on 15th Jan 2018

The player board inserts having spaces for 10,20,30 sold this set for me. I opted not to put the sides on the player boards so they take up less space in the box. I also cut the card box down with my dremel tool about a half inch so that the expansion board fits it the original box as well.

  6. Actually 4.5 stars

Posted by Unknown on 14th Jan 2018

One minor issue I have with this is the hexagon tile holder. The bottom row of tiles is near impossible to slide out of the holder. We actually had to start dumping them out when we needed one of them. I'm not sure what could be done to help with this issue, but it does get annoying. Otherwise, awesome product, as always.

  7. Player Trays make such a difference

Posted by Roger on 14th Jan 2018

I love so much about this organizer, but the best part of it is the player trays. They made me feel happy with the investment. I wish there were more distributors that carried these products in Canada on a regular basis as the shipping is expensive, but I do not regret any part of this purchase, despite the extra cost. It wasn't so bad as I ordered three other organizers at the same time.

  8. Almost a necessity

Posted by Chris M. on 12th Jan 2018

Terraforming Mars is a lovely game, but boy howdy are there a lot of cubes and no great ways to manage them out of the box. They range from 7mm to 10 mm in size, and while there are plastic bags for them it can still get a little problematic. The included player mats, while colorful and clear, are completely flat, meaning an inadvertent jostle can scatter the cubes marking your income and resources and seriously mess up your game.

The replacement player boards with cut-outs are extremely helpful for preventing these mishaps, and in addition have places indicating 20 or 30 resources (the included mats only have a 10 spot) - something very useful if your game goes long or you get the right cards. Do be careful separating the pieces for assembly of the boards, however - there are some thin bits you really don't want to break. Also note that the player marker cubes are stored on the boards in the box, and the top player board gets covered by the game board, so if the box is kept moderately horizontal there should be no spillage of the cubes.

The two trays that hold the forest/city tiles and the megacredit cubes are extremely handy for keeping all those parts available to players and organized. Making sure you've got roughly equal amounts in each is a bit of a time sink, but it makes gameplay move faster and reduces the risk of losing the bronze megacredit cubes - the smallest of the bunch.

The card holder is attractive, with the retro rocket design, and comfortably holds the base game cards sleeved with Mayday Premium card sleeves (a little more than twice as thick as the standard sleeves). I did use one included divider to keep the corporation cards separate from the game cards, but don't really know of a good use for the second divider; perhaps you can have separate draw/discard sections with unsleeved cards.

Note that if you have the Hellas & Elysium expansion and want to store that board with the core game, there's no "extra" space for it; your box lid will not close flush with the bottom. With one board, however, I get very close indeed to a perfectly flush closure.

I recognize that this organizer is almost as much as the core game itself, but if you've the funds it really does make the storage - and the playing - of the game a lot easier.

  9. Worth Every Penny

Posted by Benjamin Nicholson on 9th Jan 2018

This insert fits the box very well. The player trays are way better than the player sheets. I will never go back to those sheets again. By far the best thing from this insert if you ask me.

The tokens for the tracks worth well. They don't need to be glued and the added 3D from them is nice. All my cards are sleeved and I had no problem fitting them all.

The first expansion map does make the box lid not lay completely flat, but its not really a big deal. I store the game horizontally and the pieces don't appear to shift much.

  10. Very good organizer

Posted by Paul on 25th Dec 2017

Very good organizer the only issue I had was I had to glue the acrylic pieces together.
