  1. One of the best organizers I've bought yet

Posted by Unknown on 24th Jul 2017

This is a great organizer for TM, everything fits in the original box perfectly and everyone who has played and used this with me said it's top notch.

  2. It organizes and fixes a game flaw.

Posted by JD Meyers on 9th Jul 2017

Terraforming Mars is a wonderful game with a problem. The cardboard player boards for tracking resources don't work well.abysmal. You are given little cubes that are supposed to sit primly in tiny boxes printed on the player boards. Unfortunately, when we played, cubes were constantly being bumped off their assigned squares, into other squares or open space. If you bump the board itself, or the table, cubes go everywhere.

Broken Token's insert fixes this problem wonderfully. It comes with wooden player board replacements. They are wooden trays with cutout wells to hold the cubes snugly in place. They are a classy aesthetic upgrade to the cardboard ones. The best thing about them, though, is how well they solve the cube problem. They work superbly at holding the cubes exactly where they need to be for the entirety of the game.

The insert is also does a beautiful job at organizing the game. It contains a tower that holds, organizes, and dispenses sleeved or unsleeved cards. The tower has a cutout of a rocket going to mars on the sides that looks very cool on the table. The insert has a slot holder for the handful of special hexagonal tiles. It has a container for the water tiles that sits out on the game board. It has two cube and tile wells that allow easy access for both sides of the table to the gold, silver, and copper cubes, along with the greenery/city tiles. It has a very nice replacement for the first player token. It's a retro style 3D rocket that sits on the table ready to blast off. The system also comes with three acrylic plastic standees to replace the white cubes that come with the game to mark oxygen, temperature, and turn. All told it is a great aesthetic upgrade to the game.

From taking the top off the box to having all the components set out and ready to play took less than a minute with the insert. After the game everything quickly fits snugly within the game box.

The insert comes needing assembly. All the pieces of the insert come on sheets of birch wood that need to be removed and then assembled. To assemble it I used wood glue, sandpaper, and a rubber mallet. All told it took about two and a half hours to build. The directions that come with it are well illustrated so that there was no confusion with what piece went where. I've decided to go ahead and give it a coating of polyurethane to protect the wood.

Playing the game using the Broken Token insert solution was a revelation. Finally there were no more distractions to this engrossing game. I cannot recommend this insert enough.

  3. Essential for this game.

This organizer is fantastic. The level of detail is ridiculous, and it's clear that the people who make these put time into the best ways to make games better. If you haven't played this game yet, it comes with something like 500 tokens and 250 cards, and all of it moves around all the time. The trays that this organizer comes with are the highlight of it all, as they keep your production tokens in check, as well as keeping your extra resource tokens protected from getting knocked off of the table. This set is worth every penny.

  4. This one is worth it!

Posted by Adam Clous on 24th Jun 2017

I've had a couple inserts from Broken Token, but this is the first time I've taken the time to write a review. This organizer is perfect for the game, and it accommodates the sleeved cards just fine. The trays are perfect for keeping the cubes in place, especially if you have a spastic teenager like I do :D I highly recommend this product for this game.

  5. What's the best way to terraform your game?

Posted by Jerry on 22nd Jun 2017

Only knock on TM is the player mats and the accompanying tokens. While well laid out and economical, practically you need to photograph the mat each turn to remember where your tokens where when you repeatedly knock them flying across the table. But Broken Token have the solution, recessed wooden player mats that lock your tokens in place. First seen in Scythe, this system is practical and elegant. A welcome addition to many games but perfect to Terraforming Mars. A must for any serious player.

  6. Another outstanding insert

Posted by CHRISTOPHER SEGUIN on 21st Jun 2017

To those of you who have decided not to get this organizer for whatever reason, but you ARE contemplating picking one up, I highly suggest that you do so ASAP.

The individual players boards, with the appropriate spaces to hold your production cubes in place, are perfect. It makes storage a breeze, and all five boards stack nicely on top of each other while holding all of the cubes within the free spaces on each board.

The card tower is a great addition for both play and storage. Unsleeved or Pennysleeves allow you to draw from the top, and then discard to the bottom, thus keeping everything together on the card tower. If you use premium sleeves, you can still draw from the top, but if you use all 208 cards (CE games), then there isn't the appropriate room on the bottom for the discards.

The special city tile holder is really cool, and having a pair of resource tokens/forest-city tile boxes for each side of the board is a nice bonus.

One of my favorite Broken Token organizers yet.

  7. Bit rough assembly but super worth

Posted by SANGHUN JUNG on 8th Jun 2017

assembly is bit tough, needed super glue and a knife to trim certain pieces, but it is absolutely incredible once it's done.

  8. An Organizational Masterpiece

Posted by Reuven Fischer on 6th Jun 2017

If you like TM, this is a must have. My only feedback would be if the insert could be a smidge small so the box could close flush easier. And also if the icons on the player board could be darker/wider. It can be hard to read for new players. Small quibbles for such an organizational Masterpiece

  9. One of my favorite organizers so far!

Posted by PaulF on 31st May 2017

The player trays alone are worth the price! I also really love having two resource trays for the cubes, it makes the whole doling out resources thing much easier! GREAT organizer!

  10. good, but fragile compared to other broken token organizers

Posted by Unknown on 30th May 2017

i have purchased a number of broken token organizers. most I would give 5 stars. this one is great at getting your game boxed neatly and for ease of setup, but I give it only 4 stars because the card holder is too fragile for my tastes. the fact that it has a rocket shaped cut out along the edges is very cute, but as a result the entire card holder is supported by only a very thin piece of of wood on each side and has to be held very gingerly or it will break. mine broke on the first use. i ended up not asking for a replacement because its clearly a design flaw and will just break again. i instead glued it back together and reinforced it myself.
