I've been a big fan of The Broken Token's inserts for a while, and have purchased several (Among the Stars, Roll for the Galaxy, Dead of Winter, Codenames). This insert is more than just an organizational and storage help. I love the individual player trays, the dual resource trays, the easy to use coin tray - everything makes the game faster to set up. Fantastic work and well worth the price!
RESPONSE: Wow thanks for the great review Jacob. I have to say it's one of my favourites too! The team here is amazing. Aminda -CS Meeple
Could have been 5 stars
Posted by Brian Horne on 14th Jan 2017
This organizer is amazing. The instructions were easy to follow and it was relatively simple to build. There are a couple of components that you need some patience to line up and get correct. This organizer cuts set up time for the game by 75% due to the nature of how components are stored. The reason I did not give it a 5-star rating is that during our second playthrough a plastic tab on the resource bin snapped and I had to request a replacement. Customer service was superb and I have a replacement piece on the way. This was my first purchase from Broken Token and I would definitely buy from them again
RESPONSE: Hey Brian, Aminda here, thanks for the great shout out. You'll be happy to know that thanks to experiences like yours we are redesigning those acrylic lids :D so if you ever have any other problems you know where to find me!
A must have for Scythe
Posted by Adam S. on 10th Jan 2017
I love this organizer. I received Scythe as a gift for Christmas and this was an immediate purchase a few days later. It fit together very well. There was a few pieces that I needed to gently clamp so that the glue could hold them tight. I love that the individual sheets are numbered, very helpful while assembling. I almost felt like I was putting together a wooden Lego kit for grownups! Will absolutely be investing in a few other organizers for games that I have multiple expansions for.
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great feedback.. this just made my day!!!
Individual Faction Trays are worth the raised lid.

This is my third organizer from The Broken Token. As usual, the instructions are easy to follow, but if you get stuck, there's a YouTube video url. Some dabs of wood glue are needed on loose joints. Building everything took several hours, but it's a fun project.
They warn you in the description that if you have the board extension, your lid will be raised a bit. This is true, but in my opinion it's a fair trade for having individual faction trays. Other company's systems might make your box lid fit, but you'll have more of a chore setting up and tearing down the game, and isn't that what you bought this for?
Highly recommended insert, and I'll be buying from them again once my wife green lights my next big board game purchase.
Daunting, yet beautiful

The Scythe product is now my ninth insert that I have acquired, and without a doubt, it was the most daunting of all of the inserts. There are nine total sheets, and there is quite a bit of work to be done to finish everything. However, this is to be expected for a game of this magnitude, and therefore, it is worth the time and effort expended to get it right. Expect to spend about 1 1/2 to 2 hours on the entire assembly and return of the games pieces to the box.
There are seven different player trays to account for the expansion factions. Those are the only parts that required any sort of glue - otherwise, everything was a tight fit. The pair of resource trays to split the goods into two groups for each side of the table was a nice addition to the overall insert. The acrylic "lids" for these resource trays is also a nice addition, but mandatory since these two trays are placed into the box vertically. You may want to consider adding a bit of glue to the sides and end pieces of this tray due to the shape of the acrylic lid and the small, "locking" tabs. And remember to slide the acrylic lids, rather than placing them directly on top of the tray.
Please also note, in case you haven't read the product description, that if you have the "Extended Board" that is available as an add-on to the game itself, then the box lid will sit up approximately 6-7 mm above the base. Really, though, this is not that big of a deal, and if you don't have the Extended Board, then the box lid will fit flush.
This insert is heavy, as there is quite a bit of wood included in the insert (I did mention 9 sheets). I suggest that once you have finished the insert and packed everything back into the box, do not place it on top of your copy of For Sale, Tichu, or other such small games unless you would like you game to be crushed in glorious fashion!
RESPONSE: This is an epic review!! Thanks for thorough and precise feedback and headsup...if we were amazon I'm sure this would get all the thumbs up for being helpful! :D

Easy setup, easy clean up. Holds everything neatly and completely inside the box. All the bits were in their correct locations after storage and transportation vertically.
Instructions are easy to follow, even with all the pieces removed from their sheets. I do recommend gluing the trays together. The tolerances are good and tight, but they do occasionally come apart with the odd bump.
Great organizer, exactly what I've come to expect from The Broken Token.
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great review. *note* Broken Token does NOT recommend removing all the pieces :D
Game hits the table much more often

Excellent solution for storage and set-up

This organizer assembles easily. Everything fits exactly where it needs to go, and easily fits inside the box in a logical and easily remembered fashion. The resource trays are very useful to give easy access to everyone at the table, the money tray makes it easy to hand out and store cash, and the card holder easily holds sleeved cards in all slots. I especially like the player mat tray, as all 14 parts fit snugly inside, yet are still easy to remove.
The customer service:
My initial shipment was missing one sheet. An understandable error seeing as I ordered it during the busiest time of year. I fired off an email late that night, a Wednesday, received a prompt response Thursday morning, and had the replacement sheet by Saturday. This is the sixth organizer I have ordered, and all have been very prompt delivery and of the highest quality. I cannot recommend this organizer or this company enough.
RESPONSE: Why thank you!!! We really appreciate the feedback.
A Box of Frusteration albeit, a nice finished product

the Scythe organizer is billed as a top shelf organizer much like the game it's associated with. I was very excited to receive a collector's edition of the game, and even more excited to purchase this organizer to keep all the bits and pieces together in a nice compact space efficient configuration. I will say that the organizer does that. It makes set up and tear down very fast, maybe 5 minutes for us. Upon receiving the item you note that it comes in a rather large box. Much different than the plastic bags they usually send the products in, and rightfully so. there are a TON, of pieces involved to this organizer...which leads to the only flaws I can find in this product, one being a MAJOR flaw. So many bits and pieces, yet NONE and I mean literally NONE of the pieces are labeled with the associated alphanumeric code from the assembly instructions. (ie J-6 connects to I-9) this leads you the assembler into the long dark tunnel of product identification. and believe me, its long and dark tunnel rife with frustration. One can't even begin to fathom the frustration you would encounter with the "firefly big damn crate" organizer that's easily 10 times the work in assembly and parts. A helpful identification of each part etched into each piece would have been super helpful or at least an identification of parts x-x etched on the trees of the wooden part trees would have saved me hours of part identification and backtracking, crossing my fingers that the glue hadn't dried bonding the mismatched pieces together effectively wasting the 60.00 I dumped into this organizer. The money tray is also a large frustration breeder and you will spend hours setting it up to add another piece that you have to bang into place with your rubber mallet (Yes you will need one) due to the joints being a little off creating a super tight fit, only to have the whole structural integrity of all the work previously done fall apart on you making you start back at square one. (this happens multiple times).
However, if you can brave the storm of frustrations and poor design choices from a lack of proper identification for the mass amounts of parts involved in the assembly of this organizer you will have once complete, a pretty nice product.
my score for the final product
8/10 for the finished product (it doesn't fit completely with the expansion board causing the lid of the box to sit high)
2/10 assembly instructions. some of the most vague I have experienced in model and assembly of products.
7/10 for design. The money tray could have been a little better relieving assembly confusion and frustration.
overall..I'd say the product should get 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Response: Thank you for the feedback and we apologize for the assembly issues you experienced. It wasn't specified in your review but it sounds like perhaps all the pieces were removed from the sheets before assembly was started, and this can definitely complicate assembly. We recommend leaving all of the parts in the sheets until you need them. The sheets are identified at the top of the instructions with letters and numbers. The number-portion of the part number corresponds with the sheet, so all parts that begin with a 3 appear on sheet labeled 3/X. If there's any other assistance we can provide, please don't hesitate to contact our support department.
Fantastic organizer speeds setup
Posted by Mike Wagner on 17th Dec 2016
Organizer is fantastic, I have the expansion content and everything fits well. Handing out the faction trays for setting up really speeds everything up, I had the game components stored in the baggies and it was a trial to set up and put away.
Took some time to put together, used white glue on most joints for strength, it was simple to put together as there was a lot of repetition.
Overall a great addition to a game we play a lot of!
RESPONSE: Thanks for the great review. This is why we do what we do!!
