Games to Play on Tabletop Day 2017 - Part 2
In our last blog post, we covered a few of the games that you should consider adding to a line up when you host a Tabletop Day event. Here are a few other games that we are crazy about and think that you should consider.
Betrayal at House on the Hill
In our last post we mentioned a game that was perfect for individuals who had an appreciation for classic video games. This board game creates a similar connection for those who are lovers of horror movies. This game starts by having you and those playing go on an adventure through a haunted mansion. At some point in the game, a player will have to betray the group and leave the rest of the players against the forces that haunt that very house. What makes this game so much fun is that every single time the story will differ, making each time a new experience. You’ll see this when you realize how the differing scenarios create perfect opportunities for individuals who are interested in getting into games that require role-playing, but is equally as fun as those who have perfected their role-playing. The rules of this game are not incredibly difficult, so it’s not required or even really suggested that you have a player that knows the game, however, having one can definitely make the game run a little smoother.
If you and your friend group are less about exploring a house that terrifies the characters that they’re playing, and more about playing the role of misery, then Gloom is a perfect game to consider. This game is one that can be made as difficult, or as simple, as the group would like it to be. You’ll start off this game by having each player tell a story of a Victorian-esque family that is trying to make themselves as miserable as possible, while making all of the families around them as happy as possible. This game is perfect for those friends of yours who have plenty of experience with role-playing games, considering the game is more so about the story and less about the different pieces in the game.
Above and Below
While we’re on the subject of role-playing games, Above and Below is one that all players who have experience with role-playing can enjoy. This game is one that goes along the lines of a create-your-own-adventure storyline. In this game, you will be able to build new villages both above and below ground, while also incorporating the resource management that we’ve all come to love in classic tabletop games. Considering each character has a different story to tell and creates an adventure of their own, Above and Below truly does incorporate all of the features that we love about tabletop games, making it one of the best games to play during your Tabletop Day event. There are quite a few pieces to this game, but the rules are pretty easy to catch onto. Overall it’s a game that can take a little bit of time to set up and familiarize yourself with, but once the game is truly started, it takes off.
The team at The Broken Token continues to get more and more excited as this day gets closer. We’ve brainstormed different games to play at an event that you’re hosting, we’ve looked at events that are happening in our areas, but most importantly, we’ve fully stocked all of the pieces that you need to make sure that your games remain in high-quality and are organized. You can find all of the board game organizer pieces, accessories and more at a discounted when you shop on April 29th and 30th.
